  • Overview

     

    What you will do: Under the direction of the Simulation Manager, the Simulation Technician Coordinator will operate and maintain complex medical simulator (e.g. SimBaby) used at Seattle Children's. Responsible for programming the scenarios, the operation and maintenance of the simulators, audio visual systems, digital video recording, and debrief systems. Assist students and faculty with preparing for and conducting simulation-based learning experiences. Simulation-based practices, SimBaby, Learning and Simulation Center, safe patient care, ECPR Simulation, SimNewB, High-Fidelity Simulation, Low-Fidelity Simulation, Simulation Instructor Training Program, simulation sessions.

     

    Knowledge/Skills Needed

    • Knowledge of medical procedures and terminology, especially as related to acute illness
    • Demonstrated skill and comfort with operation and use of computer-based equipment including troubleshooting 
    • Proficient using MS Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • Effective communication/interpersonal skills demonstrated during interaction with people of varying personalities, cultures, and professional disciplines 
    • Applied proficiency in use of audio/visual equipment (i.e., video cameras, monitors, microphones), including recording, duplication, and editing. 
    • Demonstrated ability to assess, troubleshoot, and fix equipment problems rapidly, ideally in stressful settings like teaching sessions 
    • Demonstrated expertise using simulators in educational settings. 
    • Documented familiarity with Laerdal's SimBaby, SimBoy and SimNewB and their computer interfaces 
    • Able to understand and communicate clinical process and technical issues effectively to any audience through oral presentation.
    • Able to establish and maintain professional working relationships, effective communication, and a professional image

    Requirements

    Required Education/Experience:
    - Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a computer technology or health-related field.
    - Minimum of one (1) year of experience in medical simulation or related clinical experience.
    - Ability to communicate well in English, both orally and in writing.

    Preferred:
    - Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Technology or Health-related field strongly preferred.
    - Instructor/trainer in adult education.
    - Previous experience in instructing basic and/or advanced life support training.
    - Experience in simulation operations and training.
