Our dialysis unit treats many children, on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. Dialysis provides services to support the pediatric patient (birth to age 21) with end-stage renal disease or acute kidney injury requiring renal replacement therapy. Services offered include: Outpatient In-center hemodialysis and Home peritoneal dialysis, as well as acute inpatient treatments. Care of the pediatric patient with end-stage renal disease will utilize your critical thinking skills as you help navigate with the patient: diet, fluids, electrolytes, and life choices when living with a chronic disease. The unit offers school programs, social work services and nutrition education. Nurses have the opportunity to build a strong rapport with patients and families as well as provide education to help with health maintenance.
