  • Overview

    Responsible for assisting the licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia. The Anesthesia Technician provides this service by preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies before, during and after anesthesia.

     

    Clean the anesthesia area and set up circuits and IV.Set up A-lines and Central Lines using sterile technique. Help in difficult airways.  Includes using the Glidescope and difficult airway cart.

    Be able to work as a team with the rest of the techs.Understand that we are a teaching facility and be able to work with fellows and residents. Needs to be able to adapt to different patient sizes.  From below 1kg to over 400lbs.Help with intubation and extubation.

     

     

    The Certified Anesthesia Tech is expected to demonstrate practical knowledge in general areas of anesthesia and all general areas involved in the support of anesthesia. This position will require call and off-shift coverage as required by the departmental guidelines.

     

    Requirements

    Required Education/Experience:
    - Graduation from an accredited Anesthesia Tech Program, OR applicable military anesthesia technician course of study. In lieu of schooling, 5 years of Anesthesia Technician experience in an Operating Room setting required.

    Required Credentials:
    - BLS for Healthcare Providers.

    Preferred:
    - Certification as an Anesthesia Technician.
    - Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician in an operating room with job duties dedicated to anesthesia.
