Revenue Cycle Coordinator: Through multiple rotations on various Revenue Cycle teams, this entry level Revenue Cycle position provides support, performs tasks, analyzes data, and works on special projects related to obtaining payment for health care services. The purpose of the role is to acquire the on-the-job training necessary to meet the minimum requirements for promotion and placement on a revenue cycle team, and therefore generally lasts from one to two years, depending on prior experience. Hours, assignments, and performance outcomes vary depending upon the rotation. In addition to assigned tasks on rotation, performance outcomes also focus on building industry knowledge, implementing process improvements, contributing to teamwork, and improving quality. The role requires conformance with all department and hospital policies and procedures.
All duties and responsibilities are assigned by the department leader. Job responsibilities may include one or more of the following activities:
Family Service Coordinator: Coordinate patient encounters and provide patient support services to ensure that each customer encounter is positive, professional and efficient. Fulfill revenue cycle related requirements for optimal reimbursement. Duties may include: scheduling patient appointments, coordinating care with other services and minimizing access delays, processing incoming referrals, triaging patient telephone calls to appropriate resources, collecting and/or updating demographic and financial information, investigating pre-authorizations and approval for insurance, checking in patients, processing co-pays and patient charge documents, and establishing systems and resources to improve processes and efficiency of the patient experience.
Revenue Cycle Coordinator: Required Education/Experience: - High school diploma or equivalent. - Two years work experience. An Associates Degree may substituted for the two years work experience requirement. Preferred: - Bachelors degree from an accredited four year college. - Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian or Somali.
Family Service Coordinator: Required Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one (1) year customer service and/or administrative support experience. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree. Minimum of three (3) years experience working in a health care setting or related field. Significant experience working with the general public in a health care/customer service environment. Familiarity with other cultures/bilingual skills.
