  • Overview

    What you will do: Responsible for communications planning and execution for the chief executive officer (CEO) and the senior executive team of Seattle Children’s to advance the highest priority work of Seattle Children’s hospital, research institute and foundation. The position will support, and in some instances lead, outreach to internal and external audiences. With guidance and oversight from the chief of staff, the manager of executive communications will develop a communications strategy and prepare original materials to support the CEO and other executive leaders in advancing the mission of Seattle Children’s. This position will also support the CEO and other executive leaders with development of various communication materials, speeches, presentations, publications and talking points, as well as supporting social media activities. Based in the Office of the CEO, the manager will partner closely with Seattle Children’s Marketing and Communications department and other teams as necessary to ensure alignment and coordination across the Seattle Children’s system

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Partner with the Office of the CEO to develop and execute communication plans that support the CEO and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) including strategy, messaging, timing, deliverables, appropriate vehicles, etc.
    • Develop original and diverse communications materials to support the CEO and the ELT for internal Seattle Children’s and external audiences, including but not limited to articles, speeches, publications, presentations, talking points, letters, emails, and social media.

    • Use data to evaluate communication activities by the CEO and ELT, and develop best practices and strategies for improvement
    • Support the CEO and the ELT in ensuring consistent, effective, and transparent communications of executive leadership decisions.

    • Partner and coordinate with Marketing and Communications and other teams across the organization to ensure close alignment on messages.

    Requirements

    Required Education/Experience:
    - Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations or related field.
    - A minimum of five (5) years experience in marketing, communications or public relations.

    Preferred:
    - Master’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field
    - Experience working as a communications professional in a healthcare or health research setting
    - Eight or more years experience in a communications role

    - Experience writing print and on-line communications for multiple vehicles and tactics (print: brochures, posters, articles, FAQs, and web sites).
    - Experience managing multi-faceted projects with complex timelines.
    - Experience adhering to editorial and graphic standards.
