The Kaushansky Lab at SCRI is looking to have an undergraduate join the team! This student will support work done in our mosquito insectary and biomedical research lab focused on host-pathogen interactions.
This role is a great opportunity for students to learn insect rearing and infectious disease-related scientific techniques involving: microscopy, immunological assays, and pathogen transmission. Primary work will be with the Insectary rearing mosquitoes. This includes working with the rodent form of malaria (not transmissible to humans). Other lab responsibilities will be assigned including mandatory weekend work, general lab cleaning, buffer making, lab stocking, solution making, sterilizing, library research, materials inventory, and general support to scientific staff.
This is an entry level position for undergraduate students looking to pursue a career in the biosciences or scientific research. All training will be provided. We are looking for a reliable, organized, self-motivated, and enthusiastic individual who is a great communicator and can function in a fast-paced work environment.
This is a part-time position with required weekend work as well as holiday availability. We also hope that the individual will join us for research at least once during the week that fits within the academic work load.
