Responsibilities

A Research Scientist II position is available within the laboratory of Dr. Adrian Piliponsky at Seattle Children’s Research Institute, Department of Pediatrics, Pathology and Global Health, University of Washington (Seattle, WA) - Piliponsky Lab (seattlechildrens.org)

 

Research in Dr. Piliponsky’s lab is focused on the regulation of inflammatory processes involving mast cells and myeloid cells, including allergy inflammation and inflammation during bacterial infections.

 

The Research Scientist hired for the position will use an array of cellular and molecular approaches (ELISA, cell isolation, flow cytometry, histology, RNAseq and transcriptome analysis, qPCR, bacterial propagation; as well as, animal models of bacterial infection and allergic airway and skin inflammation using mast cell and basophil specific conditional mice). They will also be expected to formulate, execute, and communicate research projects.

Requirements

Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or scientific discipline; may require a Master’s Degree for certain lab specialties
- Minimum to two (2) year’s experience in a related area/laboratory setting.

Required Credentials:
- N/A

Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in applicable field/research specialty highly preferred
- Significant experience conducting research in area of specialization
- Some experience with laboratory management

 

In accordance with new Washington law for healthcare workers, Seattle Children’s requires that all staff be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 on or before October 18, 2021, or before beginning employment for start dates after October 18th.
