In 2022, we will open 8 new Operating Rooms and 2 new Cardiac Catheter Labs, giving the organization a total of 28 surgical and procedural spaces across a total of 4 perioperative suites.   Included in the expansion will be 2 new Post-Anesthesia Care Units, adding 12 additional Recovery Room Bays, which feature an open concept layout and innovative design features ensuring both patient privacy and safety.   Designed in collaboration with Doctors and Nurses, these new perioperative suites will provide unparalleled levels of patient and staff safety and comfort.     PACU is a mix of critical care (Perianesthesia) and acute care (Ambulant surgical) nursing. This area is fast paced and high volume, with around half of all surgeries and procedures undertaken admitted and discharged from within the service on the same day.   * This is a 0.6 FTE Night shift   In accordance with House Bill 1155 (effective January 1, 2020), the following areas have clinical unpredictable needs and as a result will have a call obligation within their nursing positions: Apheresis, Cardiac Cath Lab, Dialysis, ECMO, Home Care Services, Imaging Services (including GI Procedures), Perioperative Services, and Transplant Coordinators.

The Ma Lab seeks a talented research scientist to join our team. We use computational and experimental systems biology to study host and pathogen responses during tuberculosis infection and treatment in primary ex vivo cellular, zebrafish, and mouse models.   Active projects will include: (1) developing a data-driven computational model to predict multidrug efficacy during therapy in vivo based on pathogen transcriptional responses, (2) experimentally screening for host-pathogen interaction effectors during ex vivo infection in primary host cells, and (3) combining computational and experimental approaches to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying drug tolerance.   This position will involve performing experiments including: measuring the response of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to infection and drug treatment, collection and culture of primary human and mouse cells for infection and drug treatment, measuring mRNA gene expression in bacterial and eukaryotic cells with RNA sequencing, and basic molecular biology and biochemistry experiments.   Full time, 1.0 FTE position. Some weekend work is to be expected.
