A post-doctoral position is available within the laboratory of Dr. Myron Evans at Seattle Children's Research Institute, Department of Pediatrics, University of Washington (Seattle, WA). Research in Dr. Evans’ lab centers around the field of developmental oncology studying the epigenetic regulation of central nervous system development in the post-natal mammalian brain. We study how these epigenetic mechanisms become deregulated and contribute to the formation of pediatric brain tumors, such as medulloblastoma and diffuse midline glioma. Finally, we identify novel targets and design and test therapeutic interventions for childhood cancer patients. The postdoctoral fellow hired for the position will use an array of cellular and molecular approaches (primary cell isolation, flow cytometry, histology, RNAseq (bulk and single cell), qPCR, protein biochemistry; as well as, models of tumorigenesis including genetically engineered mouse models and patient-derived orthotopic xenografts. The fellow will be expected to write grants, manuscripts, and assist in mentoring technicians and undergraduate students.
