The Department of Psychiatry at Seattle Children’s is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or PA-C with at least 1 year of experience working in child and adolescent psychiatry to join our multidisciplinary team of providers. The PMHNP or PA-C will provide direct care and assume primary responsibility for the clinical management of pediatric patients admitted to the Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit (PBMU). The PMHNP or PAC-C will be responsible for obtaining patient histories, evaluating patients, performing physical exams as appropriate, ordering and interpreting labs or other diagnostic tests, prescribing medication, and developing and modifying treatment plans. The PMHNP or PAC-C will also direct and participate in coordination of treatment planning following discharge. As applicable, the PMHNP or PA-C will collaborate, refer, and consult with department attending physicians, psychologists, mental health therapists, case managers, and other members of the health care team to deliver effective, efficient, safe, and high-quality care. Job responsibilities may also include evaluation and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department with behavioral health concerns, consulting with medical teams of patients hospitalized in other medical units and supporting patient care in partial hospitalization programs and/or intensive outpatient programs.
